Tuition Fees

For their participation in the M.Sc., students pay total tuition fees amounting to three thousand euros (€3,000.00). The payment of tuition fees is made either in full or in two (2) equal installments into a bank account held by the Special Account for Research Funds (E.L.K.E.) of AUTh. Failure to fulfill financial obligations constitutes sufficient grounds for non-awarding of the Master’s Degree or dismissal from the M.Sc.

Tuition Fee Waivers

Postgraduate students may study free of charge provided they meet specific financial or social criteria. A prerequisite for granting this right is the possession of a first-cycle degree or diploma with a grade equal to or higher than seven and a half out of ten (7.5/10). The total number of beneficiaries may not exceed the number corresponding to thirty percent (30%) of the total enrolled students per year.

The submission of applications for free tuition per M.Sc., in accordance with the present, takes place after the completion of the student admission process to the M.Sc.

A student of the M.Sc. who meets the aforementioned excellence requirement has the right to free tuition if the following criteria apply:

1. The average of the sum of the taxable income of the last two (2) fiscal years of all members of the family of the person applying for the tuition waiver—namely the applicant themselves, their parents (regardless of whether they file a joint or separate tax return), and their siblings up to twenty-six (26) years of age, provided they are unmarried and have their own taxable income within the meaning of Article 7 of Law 4172/2013 (A’ 167)—does not exceed seventy percent (70%) of the national median disposable equivalent income, according to the most recently published data by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), if the applicant has not reached their twenty-sixth (26th) year of age and is unmarried or has not entered into a civil partnership.
2. The average individual taxable income of the last two (2) fiscal years of the applicant does not exceed one hundred percent (100%) of the national median disposable equivalent income, according to the most recently published data by ELSTAT, if the applicant has reached their twenty-sixth (26th) year of age.
3. The average of the sum of the taxable income of the last two (2) fiscal years of the applicant for the tuition waiver and their spouse or partner, provided they are married or have entered into a civil partnership (regardless of whether they file a joint or separate tax return), does not exceed one hundred percent (100%) of the national median disposable equivalent income, according to the most recently published data by ELSTAT.

If the applicant for the waiver has not reached their twenty-sixth (26th) year of age and is a child of a family with three or more children, or the child of a single parent, or an orphan of at least one (1) parent, or a person with a disability, or a member of a household with a person with a disability, they may apply for a fifty percent (50%) reduction in tuition fees, provided the average in case (a) of paragraph 4 of Article 86 of Law 4957/2022 exceeds seventy percent (70%) and does not exceed one hundred percent (100%) of the national median disposable equivalent income.

The submission of applications for free tuition per M.Sc. in accordance with the present takes place after the completion of the student admission process to the M.Sc. The examination of the criteria regarding tuition waivers is carried out by the School Assembly, and a reasoned decision is issued regarding the acceptance or rejection of the application. This waiver is provided for participation in only one postgraduate program.

The present does not apply to third-country citizens.

In any case, the exempt students do not exceed the percentage of thirty percent (30%) of the total number of admitted students. If the eligible applicants exceed the aforementioned percentage, they are selected in ranking order starting with those who have the lowest income.

Scholarships

By decision of the School Assembly, scholarships may be granted. The terms for granting scholarships are determined by a decision of the Assembly (e.g., the top-ranking graduate of the M.Sc. per year may be granted an excellence award and a monetary sum equal to the refund of the tuition fees they may have paid out of pocket).
